| AnaeMedia is a socio-technological initiative. It is a prick-less anaemia scanner that can measure HB levels and help diagnose anaemia by referring to an accompanying simple chart. It is designed for use by low-skilled village health workers, rugged and dust-proof to last in the countryside, and equipped with a rechargeable battery and hand crank mechanism for operation in areas with infrequent electric supply. The health-worker (under the PHC network) checks the value of Hb, compares it with the given chart, and provides a dosage of iron tablets, if required. The health-worker then monitors the treatment of the anaemic at regular intervals. The monitoring function that AnaeMedia would enable for pregnant females will be crucial in saving lives. If the patient is not in a safe Hb range in the second half of her pregnancy, then the required blood transfusion can be arranged in time. The tracking of improvements in condition is vital in case of pregnant anaemic women. AnaeMedia Scanner is a very robust, lightweight, maintenance free, dust proof device that gives instant readable usable results. It is importantly, completely non invasive - prick free. No needles, no blood. |
